Marile povești de science fiction (Isaac Asimov Presents the Great SF Stories) este o serie de antologii de nuvele de ficțiune colectate și comentate de Isaac Asimov și Martin H. Greenberg și includ cele mai bune povești ale Epocii de Aur (Epoca de Aur) science fiction și anii următori, an de an din 1939 până în 1963, pentru un total de 25 de volume.

Istoria editorială

Cele 25 de colecții au fost publicate inițial din 1979 până în 1992, la o rată de două volume pe an.

Ultimele două volume au fost de fapt editate de Martin H. Greenberg împreună cu Robert Silverberg (starea de sănătate a lui Asimov s-a înrăutățit și a dus la moartea sa în 1992). [1]

Antologiile au fost publicate în italiană de diferite edituri: mai întâi de edițiile Siad (volumele 1-14) din 1980 până în 1986, apoi de Armenia Edizioni (vol. 15-21) din 1987 până în 1991. Ultimele patru volume (22 -25) au fost achiziționate exclusiv de Mondadori , care le-a publicat în seria Urania Classici și I libri di Urania din 1992 până în 1995. [2] Volumele de la 1 la 21 au fost retipărite de diferite edituri: RCS Periodici (vol. 1- 10) și Bompiani în seria I grandi pascabili (vol. 1-21), Mondadori (vol. 1 și 2, primul împărțit în două) și Euroclub (vol. 1 și 2). Deoarece nu s-a ajuns la un acord cu privire la publicarea lor, textele poveștilor lui Robert A. Heinlein prezente în colecțiile originale nu au fost publicate în limba italiană, cu excepția primului volum (din toate edițiile) și a primelor trei volume ale reeditării Bompiani, care îi aduc înapoi.
