Cupa Scoției (în italiană „ Coppa di Scotland ”) sau Cupa Scoțiană de Baschet este o competiție de baschet pentru cluburile din liga scoțiană și ligile regionale.

Istorie

Împreună cu Liga de Baschet Lothian , Cupa Scoțiană de Baschet a fost premergătoarea și premergătoarea campionatului scoțian de baschet .

Prima competiție a fost organizată în 1947, anunțată în ediția din 3 iunie a The Scotsman [1] ; trofeul a fost acordat de Kemsley Newspapers. Baschetul în Scoția a crescut sub influența atât a unităților de învățământ (licee și universități), cât și a jucătorilor din bazele militare americane staționate în Scoția. În anii 1960 și 1970, echipa câștigătoare a reprezentat Marea Britanie în competiția Cupei Europei .

Câștigătorii multiplelor cupe aparțin în principal zonei Edinburgh și sunt Midlothian Bulls (numit și Murray Edinburgh sau MIM Edinburgh, MIM Livingston, Livingston Bulls cu 15 titluri), Boroughmuir (zece victorii) și Edinburgh Kings (șapte victorii) și Universitatea din Edinburgh cu cinci victorii.

Departe de Edinburgh ne amintim câștigătorul Falkirk cu două echipe diferite (Falkirk sponsorizat de Team Solripe și Fury ), Paisley și cu două formațiuni ( Paisley BC și Paisley St. Mirren ) și Glasgow cu Glasgow Maryhill, Pearce Institute, Glasgow Elite și Glasgow Brightsiders / Divizia Sportivă .

Echipa „străină” a cometelor Kirknewton, formată din soldații americani ai bazei RAF la câțiva kilometri de Edinburgh, a câștigat în repetate rânduri cupa și împreună cu celelalte formațiuni militare ale forțelor de forță Edzell (la jumătatea distanței dintre Dundee și Aberdeen ) și Dunoon Simon Lacul "Lakers" (vest pe râul Clyde) a răspândit practica baschetului în Scoția încă din anii 1950 [2] .

În prezent, formula scoțiană de baschet Cupă prevede participarea echipelor din ligile majore și minore sau regionale: Liga de baschet Grampian, Asociația de baschet Lothian și Liga de baschet Tayside & Fife.
