Statecist

Statocistele sunt organe ale simțului echilibrului prezente în unele nevertebrate acvatice, inclusiv moluște , ^[1] bivalve , ^[2] celenterate , ^[3] ctenofori , ^[4] echinoderme , ^[5] cefalopode , ^[6] și crustacee . ^[7] O structură similară se găsește și în genul Xenoturbella . ^[8]

Statocistele sunt conținute în ropalium, umflăturile plasate la marginea umbrelei meduzei conținând statocistii, fotoreceptorii numiți ocelli și chemoreceptori. ^[9]
