Soundtrack to the Apocalypse este un set de cutii al trupei American Slayer , publicat pe 25 noiembrie 2003 de American Recordings .

fundal

În timpul lansării celui de-al optulea album de studio God Hates Us All , numele Soundtrack to the Apocalypse a fost considerat a fi un titlu alternativ pentru album. [1] Frontmanul Tom Araya a declarat că, dacă grupul ar lansa vreodată un set de box, cel mai potrivit titlu ar fi Soundtrack to the Apocalypse . [1] Grupul a decis că odată ce casa de discuri (American Recordings) a fost de acord să lanseze, vor lua ceva timp pentru a compila materialul. [1] După aproximativ un an de discuții între Slayer și casa de discuri, s-a ajuns la un acord în septembrie: eticheta va garanta lansarea setului de cutii, dar cu condiția ca aceasta să fie lansată aproape de sărbătorile de Crăciun. Publicare

La 25 septembrie 2003, s-a anunțat că Soundtrack to the Apocalypse va fi lansat pe 18 noiembrie; [2] cu toate acestea, pe 23 octombrie, MTV a anunțat că setul de boxuri va fi amânat pentru 25 noiembrie. [3] La această ultimă dată, Slayer a lansat setul de cutii în două versiuni diferite: 3-CD standard și un DVD (pentru Universal [4] ) și Deluxe Edition cu un al patrulea CD suplimentar, lansat pentru American Recordings. [5]

Pe cel de-al treilea disc al cutiei se află o versiune live a unei melodii numită Ice Titan . Acesta din urmă este prima piesă compusă de Slayer, iar riff-ul principal a fost folosit ulterior pentru Altar of Sacrifice , prezentat pe albumul Reign in Blood . [6]
